Pumpkin and Sunflower Day

What a fun afternoon. There were pirate pumpkins, mummy pumpkins, princess pumpkins and much more! Room 2 did really well and even managed to pick up some prizes for the best dressed pumpkin, the fastest pumpkin, the ugliest pumpkin, the 4th heaviest pumpkin, the biggest sunflower and the sunflower with the most heads (27). A big thank you must go to everyone who helped organise the day!

Assembly

Just to clarify about assembly, we are having assembly tomorrow on Friday and the last assembly will be next week on Thursday. Principal awards will be given out next week at the Thursday assembly. Sorry for any confusion!   

Maths...

Halves and Quarters

Today for maths we were looking at fractions of numbers. We started with halves and then moved on to quarters. Everyone had a "paddock" and had to count out different amounts of "cows" and divide them into halves and then quarters. It was quite a great way to reinforce halves of numbers. 

Room 2 thought the blocks were the funniest cows they had seen! 

Counting Backwards:

Friday Star Time and Topic Sharing

Star Time is a chance to get a bit of free choosing for 10 - 15 minutes on Friday. Room 2 has to earn star time during the week. If they get ten points by Friday, they get star time! The way they earn points is if everyone is working hard and staying on task - we're trying to focus on team building and working together. Here are some pictures from star time last week :)

Topic Sharing 

Instead of Show and Tell we have been doing topic sharing. Room 2 get to share something to do with water. They have been quite creative about finding things that relate to water - animals, ice, books with water in them and much more. Have a look at some of the pictures below...

A few updates for the next 2 weeks

Pumpkin and Sunflower Day: Here is the plan for the day

• Pumpkins can be delivered to school at any time up until 11:15 
• Pumpkins dressed during the morning tea break (11:15 - 11:35) 
• Judging from 11:35 - 12:35
• Prize giving straight after lunch (1:30 pm) followed by pumpkin rolling

Young Farmer Competition: 

New date for the is Monday 10th April - starting at 1 pm. We need to confirm numbers this week so please take some time to talk to your child about whether this is something they could try. It is open for children of all ages. We will need parent support on the day so please let us know if you can help. 

Parent Teacher Learning Conferences: 

Parent Teacher Learning Conferences will be held on the 10th and 11th of April (Monday and Tuesday) This is a great chance to see how your child is progressing with their learning. It's also a really good time to ask any questions and just touch base. These are optional but it would be really neat to see you all :)


Assembly:

This week is the last assembly for the term as next Friday is Easter. We will be having 2 principal awards from each class.
